Rafting In Tokyo

https://youtu.be/G50V4w-8Ikc

Believe it or not, this video is in ‘Tokyo’.  We operate Japan’s best cloud phone service for companies, so if the phone number isn’t 03, then ‘Tokyo’ is a bit of a stretch.. It was still fun.

Several of us from the office went out for some rafting.  Great to get out and enjoy the Tama River.

Blast From The Past -Nortel

Remember this firm?  This little clock came from a Nortel dealer event in Tokyo, Japan.  It must have been one of those first radio wave clocks.

Nortel was a great company of the North, Canada. They used to keep us really busy.  We still have companies using their end of life systems and have fewer and fewer parts.  Nortel was bought out by their neighbor to the South, Avaya, who has recently declared bankruptcy.

Moral to the story, we must always be innovating to stay ahead in business.

Nortel RIP.

How Ransomware (Malware) Works

Big hit on a lot of networks world wide today.  Just because you get an email with a link to click or file attachment, doesn’t mean you should open it.

Please be careful about opening anything that comes into your email account.  Gmail has been rife with malware.  In today’s case it is windows users, but it could hit anyone.

We must be diligent to protect ourselves from cyber threats.

More on today’s attack here.

Why Is Apple Worth $800B USD?

Today, we hear that Apple Computer is worth $800B, according to US investors, the WSJ reports. Amazing.

Something else I guess that is amazing, and probably related, is Apple charges around $32 USD for an Apple Watch cable… it probably costs around $3 to make.

It will be interesting to watch how long the company can stay on top.

Realizing What You’ve Got

Sometimes you don’t realize how good stuff is until you don’t have it anymore.  Last year, got a great portable charger from Robert Walters Japan.  Good little unit that holds a good charge and is a convenient size for the mega city road warrior types like us.

Gave my unit to a team mate a couple months back. Then realized how useful the little guy is with all our devices and reliance on cloud services like QuickerWeb and Japan’s fastest growing cloud phone service iPBX Hosting.

It’s fun to give people useful things, also very appreciative to Robert Walters for finding an additional unit.  Thanks RW Japan!

Internet Enabled Refrigerator

We’ve got so many computers in our offices.  Even more computers in our multiple datacenters nationwide.  Do you really need one in your refrigerator?  Only $4000 USD…

Burmese Python In Florida

An albino python from Burma (Myanmar).  These little guys have become a serious problem in the Florida Everglades disrupting nature’s food chain balance.

Don’t try this at home

Aligator wresting.  These reptiles are mostly muscle but interesting their mouths are not strong for opening, it’s just the closing part you have to be aware of.
